Scenic trips originate from Chama, New Mexico or Antonito, Colorado with each train departing sharply at 10:00 am with a mid-point buffet lunch stop at the former mining town of Osier, Colorado with an option to change trains and continue on to Antonito and return by bus to complete the round trip. The route built in the late 1800's is the longest and highest operating narrow gauge railroad in America initially following SH 17 along the New Mexico/Colorado border climbing to 10,015 feet thru Cumbres Pass crossing over two high trestles with majestic views of Chama Valley's rolling mountain meadows, mixed aspen/fir forests and steep river canyons. Departing Osier, the train passes thru 2 tunnels following steep mountain passes along the Rio de Los Pinos Creek and Toltec Gorge.
